Whole Body Listening: Time for a Change
Whole Body Listening Larry has been a familiar face in classrooms for over 12 years, and we are excited to announce that big changes for the resources are in the works! We need to shift from an outdated model of enforcing certain behavior and standards to teaching and encouraging listeners to identify what their unique brains and body need in order to regulate, listen to learn, and connect.
Whole Body Listening is Not One Size Fits All
Similar to finding the right shoe size, it is critical to find the best “fit” for our own listening profile. This is especially impactful for learners who belong to traditionally marginalized communities, as their listening needs may differ significantly from the listening needs of the majority.
What Does it Mean to Listen?
“Listening” is a process highly dependent on individual styles and experiences. What one person identifies as a need to listen might be distracting for another. An environment that is good for one listener might be over- or underwhelming to another.
